JUNE 16, 2020: Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) is now enrolling for a new 5-week Phlebotomy Training Course offered at the Springfield, Missouri campus.* The course is designed to prepare students to complete laboratory tasks routinely performed in a medical facility.
The Phlebotomy Course at MTI prepares students to take the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) certification exam necessary to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
Phlebotomists are essential workers in hospitals, diagnostics labs, and other healthcare facilities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of phlebotomists is projected to grow 23 percent from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations (5%). Doctors and healthcare professionals across the country require the skills of a phlebotomist in order to collect bloodwork necessary for analysis and diagnosis.
During MTI’s phlebotomy classes, students will receive hands-on training led by an instructor with real-world experience in laboratory procedures, including the collection and handling of specimens for testing in both a facility and an outside laboratory environment.
“MTI strives to offer workforce training in career fields with expected growth-and the skills of phlebotomists are essential to collect bloodwork in hospitals, diagnostics labs, and other healthcare facilities. We are proud to offer this training in this growing field to students interested in pursuing a career in healthcare,” Liz Skidmore-Cooper, Campus President of MTI’s Springfield, MO location.
The new Phlebotomy Course at the Springfield, MO campus is now enrolling students who want to start training as early as July 2020!
