FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPRINGFIELD, MO—Midwest Technical Institute (MTI) is proud to announce the opening of our new CDL driving range location to provide students the training necessary to gain entry-level employment in the trucking industry, which is currently facing a massive shortage.
According to the American Trucking Association, the industry was short by 80,000 drivers in 2021—and that’s likely to double by 2030. Walmart made headlines last year by announcing new drivers could make up to $110,000 in their first year with the company.
“There’s a tremendous opportunity for new drivers to start a career in the trucking industry, especially here in Missouri. We’re excited to support students in their pursuit of a career path that can offer competitive pay and opportunity for growth,” said Paul Schaefer, Campus President of MTI’s Springfield, MO location.
On behalf of MTI’s faculty, staff, and community partners, we cordially invite you to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at our new CDL driving range location on November 14th at 4 p.m. The CDL range is where MTI’s truck driving students will get behind-the-wheel experience led by instructors with years of professional driving experience. MTI offers a 20-day CDL Training Course and a 20-week Professional Truck Driving Program.
The Springfield Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance, along with several trucking carrier partners, including DOT Transportation, Schneider, and Transland. We encourage you to join us to walk our new range, meet our faculty and staff, and see our trucks. MTI faculty and staff will be available for media interviews. Light refreshments will be provided.
