MTI’s medical assistant schools in Illinois and Missouri will train you to start a new career in less than a year. MTI teaches you the clinical and administrative skills you need to work in doctors’ offices, including assisting with EKGs and x-rays, phlebotomy, and more. Medical assistant classes at MTI are hands-on and include both classroom and lab instruction led by instructors with real-world experience in the healthcare industry. The Medical Assisting Program concludes with an externship that gives you in-the-field working experience, and helps you learn what type of position you may want to pursue after graduation.

The instructors at MTI bring real-world experience to your medical assistant classes, including  classroom and hands-on lab instruction. MTI’s schooling for medical assistants includes both clinical & administrative duties, including:

• Assisting with physical exams, EKGs, X-ray procedures & first aid
• Assisting with eye, ear, nose, and throat; minor surgeries; emergency preparedness; the clinical lab; radiology and nutrition
• Knowledge of prescription labels, pharmacology math, measurement systems, and dosage calculations
• Understanding Integrated Electronic Health Records, HIPAA compliance & insurance coding
• Assisting with the life specialties, physical therapy, and patient education

Medical Assistant Certification

To obtain your medical assistant certification, you will be scheduled to sit for a certification exam, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) National Medical Assistant (CMA) Certification Exam.

Medical assistants are a vital part of most medical offices, and the profession continues to grow as a result of the population living longer and advancements in procedures, treatments, and medications. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts the job outlook for medical assistants will increase by 15% from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations (4%).
